WIRE EROSION
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining ( Wire EDM ) , also known as wire cutting, is used to cut very intricate and delicate shapes in materials that would be difficult to machine by any other method.
Our wire erosion facility offers the following key benefits:
Surface Integrity – sub 5 micron recast area
Surface finish up to 0.2Ra
Machining tolerances of up to 0.005mm
No tool contact with the material – delicate sections and fragile materials can be machined without the risk of distortion
Machining inside corners down to 0.135 radii
Machine capacities:
2 x FANUC C400 IB 400 x 300 x 255
1 x SODICK AQ600 600 x 400 x 300
2 x SODICK A325d 360 x 250 x 180
MILLING
Our milling section can cope with a diverse range of machining using 3 axis machining centres that can run from digital files via CAD CAM to 2 axis machines for that second op work from previous operations.
Our operators are highly trained to use these machines to their full capacity.
We offer CNC Milling 3 axis simultaneous machining.
We offer 4th axis machining.
We have a range of semi-CNC and manual machines.

SPARK ELECTRODE DISCHARGE MACHINING (EDM)
CNC Spark Erosion, also known as Sinker EDM, consists of an electrode and workpiece submerged in dialectric fluid. As the electrode nears the workpiece a plasma channel is formed, a spark bridges the gap and the base metal is vapourised. This creates a 3D inverse image of the electrode on the workpiece.
This allows for complex cavities and blind holes to be formed that otherwise could not be machined by conventional methods.
Our CNC Spark Erosion facility offers the following :
Machining tolerances of up to 0.010mm
in house machining of intricate parts
broken taps & easy outs removed
All types of steels including Inconel, Duplex, Aluminium, Bronze, Carbide and Titanium basically any condutive materials
Spark Erosion can be used for processes ranging from the simple removal of a broken tap to shafts, stems and sleeves for the oil exploration industry and complex curved impellors.

SMALL HOLE EDM
EDM Small hole drilling is the production process for the forming of holes in hardened and exotic materials such as Inconel and Carbide.
EDM drills bore holes with a long brass or copper tube electrode that rotates in a chuck with a constant flow of deionised water flowing through the electrode as a flushing agent and dielectric.
Drilling can be between 0.5mm and 4mm in diameter and up to a maximum depth of 300mm
Small hole EDM is also used to drill rows of cooling holes into the leading and trailing edges of turbine blades used in jet engines. The high-temperature, very hard, single crystal alloys employed in these blades makes conventional machining of these holes extremely difficult, if not impossible.
EDM is also used for start holes for WIRE EDM particularly in hardened material.
